Remploy

REMPLOY WORKERS ON STRIKE
AGAINST PRIVATISATION.

Disabled workers at a Chesterfield Remploy factory are striking today against the part privatisation of the factory. Remploy have formed a partnership with a private company called Websters, who make artificial aids like braces. Together they have formed  R healthcare. This has lead to the management appointing non disabled workers on much lower terms and conditions.
This is clearly an attempt at pushing disabled people out of employment through the back door.
Remploy was founded in 1945 under the 1944 Disabled Persons (Employment) Act introduced by Ernest Bevin. The then minister for labour, as a response to the number disabled ex-miners injured underground and Disabled World War Two veterans Returning from The front.
